On 28/3, a representative from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health announced that they had received a patient's complaint via their hotline. The patient reported being unable to contact the owner of the beauty facility to address complications. The Department's Inspectorate, in coordination with police and local authorities, investigated the facility, located in a house within alley 138 Nguyen Trai street, Cho Quan ward. The investigation revealed that the facility operated without a license for medical examination and treatment. The individual who performed the filler injection also lacked a professional practice certificate. This individual admitted to injecting filler for the client at a cost of 27 million VND and having performed many similar procedures in the past.
Authorities issued a fine of 80 million VND to the facility, suspended its operations for 18 months, and ordered it to return all illegally obtained profits. The facility will only be permitted to resume operations once it fully complies with legal requirements. The homeowner was also required to sign a commitment to prevent the recurrence of using the residence for illegal medical examination and treatment.
A representative from the Department of Health noted that this incident serves as a continued warning about the prevalence of "underground" beauty services. Invasive procedures, such as filler injections, if performed by untrained individuals or under unsanitary conditions, can lead to dangerous complications. These include infection, vascular occlusion, necrosis, or even blindness if not managed promptly.
For aesthetic procedures, individuals should choose licensed medical facilities or specialized aesthetic clinics where services are performed by licensed doctors. Avoid using services at unclear locations, such as private homes, "mobile" facilities, or places without proper signage. It is advisable to look up information about facilities and practitioners on the Department's information portal and to report any signs of violations via the hotline.
