According to doctors, a sharp foreign object risks damaging the mucous membrane, causing bleeding, esophageal perforation, or other dangerous complications without timely intervention. Doctors successfully removed the foreign object in a short time using endoscopic anesthesia. Following the procedure, the baby was awake, her vital signs stable, and she remains under observation at the hospital.
Children from 6 months to 3 years old often grasp objects and put them in their mouths, increasing the risk of swallowing foreign objects. Parents must keep small items such as: coins, batteries, buttons, earrings, beads, and small toys out of children's reach. If a child shows signs of suspected foreign object ingestion, including a choking cough, difficulty swallowing, drooling, vomiting, prolonged fussiness, or difficulty breathing, seek immediate medical attention.
