The program focuses on high-risk individuals who haven't been diagnosed, facilitating early detection and intervention to minimize the risk of stroke, heart failure, heart attack, and death.
According to the WHO, an estimated 1.5 billion people globally have hypertension, with 9.4 million deaths annually. In Vietnam, 12 million people have the condition, affecting one in every 5 adults.
Medical experts have repeatedly warned about the consequences of hypertension (high blood pressure). The rate of undiagnosed, untreated, and uncontrolled hypertension remains high, leading to complications and threatening health and life. Regular checkups and early treatment are crucial.
Throughout August, with support from the Vietnam Association of Internal Medicine, Long Chau and Viatris will conduct blood pressure screenings in several provinces and cities. At all Long Chau pharmacies nationwide, people will receive guidance on blood pressure measurement and early detection of related issues.
The program also provides educational materials on home blood pressure monitoring, advises on nutrition and healthy lifestyles, and recommends steps to take if abnormalities are detected.
In addition, the two companies are implementing activities to enhance the professional capacity of Long Chau's pharmacists, providing cardiovascular disease consultation across multiple platforms.

At the launch, Nguyen Do Quyen, deputy general director of FPT Retail and CEO of Long Chau pharmacy and vaccination center system, pointed out that many people in Vietnam only discover they have hypertension after experiencing serious complications. This emphasizes the need for early and effective action within the community.
"With over 2,222 pharmacies and 18,000 pharmacists, we are committed to this campaign, strengthening screening, consultation, training, and health education. With Viatris's scientific expertise and Long Chau's extensive reach, this campaign will have a significant impact, helping people detect early, treat properly, and manage the disease sustainably," Ms. Do Quyen said.

Sharing this view, Radhika Bhalla, Viatris's market director for Vietnam and Asian Alliances, stated that the company has long believed good health is the foundation of a fulfilling life. The company is committed to providing practical treatment solutions, particularly in the area of non-communicable diseases like hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
"Our partnership with FPT Long Chau is a joint effort to promote early detection, raise awareness about hypertension, and support people's access to information and healthcare services within their communities. Beyond raising awareness, we hope this campaign will contribute to behavioral changes, from prevention to effective disease management," Ms. Bhalla added.
Moving forward, the two sides will implement a series of practical programs, step-by-step building a sustainable healthcare ecosystem, "working together to create a healthy future for all Vietnamese people."
