The victim was rushed to Xuyen A General Hospital in Long An. Dr. Nguyen Vu An, head of general surgery, reported that the patient's condition deteriorated rapidly within 30 minutes, showing signs of hemorrhagic shock. A CT scan revealed a ruptured mesenteric artery, causing internal bleeding.
The hospital immediately initiated an emergency response, coordinating multiple departments for emergency surgery. The surgical team located the injury on a branch of the superior mesenteric artery and repaired it. They removed the accumulated blood from the abdominal cavity and examined other organs for additional injuries. The patient received 2 units of blood, with an estimated total blood loss of approximately 1,000 ml.
After more than a week of post-operative care, the patient recovered well, his vital signs stabilized, and he was discharged.

Dr. An explained that this was a case of blunt abdominal trauma caused by a powerful external force, resulting in a sudden stretching of the mesentery. Consequently, the mesenteric blood vessels ruptured, leading to massive bleeding into the abdominal cavity and rapid hemorrhagic shock.
Blunt abdominal trauma occurs when the abdomen suffers a severe impact without any external wounds or skin lacerations. Despite the absence of visible external signs, internal organs such as the liver, spleen, intestines, and kidneys can be bruised, torn, or bleed severely.
Symptoms include abdominal pain, nausea, dizziness, or abdominal distension. This is a dangerous condition; if not detected and treated promptly, it can lead to severe complications and even death.
Therefore, the doctor strongly advises against complacency in cases of chest or abdominal trauma. Immediate medical attention at the nearest healthcare facility is crucial for timely diagnosis and intervention.
