"Island doctors are both healers and soldiers protecting maritime sovereignty. Their dedication is a strong internal force for the sustainable development of the island healthcare system," said Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan. He added that he will advise the government on refining special remuneration policies for healthcare personnel working in island areas, ensuring their benefits and career development.
The delegation visited seven islands: Song Tu Tay, Nam Yet, Da Tay A, Sinh Ton Dong, Nui Le C, Tien Nu B, Truong Sa, and the DK1/2 Phuc Tan platform. The visit aimed to motivate forces protecting maritime sovereignty and survey the healthcare system in the Truong Sa special zone, Khanh Hoa province.
Deputy Minister Thuan expressed that the trip evoked many emotions, witnessing the changes and development on the frontline islands. He was particularly impressed by the capabilities of the island military medical teams, who performed complex surgeries with specialized support from the mainland.
According to a Ministry of Health leader, the health sector has coordinated with the Ministry of National Defense and military medical facilities to enhance emergency care, treatment, and disaster and epidemic response capabilities at sea. Many central-level hospitals also regularly organize medical examinations, treatment, and screening for military personnel and civilians in Truong Sa.
