On 25/8, a leader from An Khe Ward People's Committee reported that patients shared a common link: they all consumed banh mi from the Bin Bin business establishment between the evening of 23/8 and the evening of 24/8, subsequently experiencing unusual symptoms. Notably, among those admitted to An Khe Medical Center for emergency treatment were the owner of the business and their child.

By this afternoon, among the 83 patients receiving treatment, two young children had high fevers, while others remained in stable condition. Some patients have already been discharged. Initial diagnoses suggest food poisoning.

Patients reported consuming banh mi thap cam (mixed banh mi), which typically includes pate, cold cuts, shredded pork floss, Vietnamese pork sausage, herbs, cucumber, ground chili, egg butter sauce, soy sauce, and braised pork. According to the owner, the shop sells approximately 200 banh mi of various types daily, operating from 6:00 to 21:00.

Authorities collected 12 food samples for testing to determine the cause. Health agencies also took patient samples for analysis.

The An Khe Ward People's Committee formed a food safety inspection team at the Bin Bin business establishment. They recorded a report and mandated a temporary suspension of operations pending investigation results.
