On 15/12, Phenikaa University Hospital (PhenikaaMec) and Philips Group announced a strategic cooperation to establish a specialized medical imaging training center. This center will utilize 31 advanced artificial intelligence-integrated image processing tools developed by Philips. It marks the first large-scale specialized medical imaging training center in Vietnam to be implemented through a partnership with Philips. On this occasion, PhenikaaMec also inaugurated its 3T Ingenia Elition X magnetic resonance imaging system, which shortens scanning time, improves diagnostic accuracy, and optimizes clinical procedures.

The specialized medical imaging training center at Phenikaa University Hospital aims to enhance the quality of diagnostic imaging in Vietnam. It pursues three strategic directions: international-standard training, advanced technology transfer, and high-quality healthcare human resource development. The center acts as a bridge between knowledge, practice, and technology, helping local doctors quickly access global standards while addressing personnel shortages in diagnostic imaging.
In the long term, the center aspires to become a national reference point for medical imaging training and research, integrating clinical training, technical practice, and innovative research.
Speaking at the event, Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Thanh Hoi, General Director of Phenikaa University Hospital, stated, "The launch of the Specialized Medical Imaging Training Center marks a significant step for PhenikaaMec in developing diagnostic and treatment capabilities. We are committed to investing heavily in human resources and technology to provide safe, high-quality healthcare services to the community".

A key feature of the center is the system of 31 advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-integrated image processing software developed by Philips. These technologies provide in-depth support for cardiovascular, neurological, oncological, and musculoskeletal assessments. Notable solutions include: comprehensive cardiac analysis using spectral CT and magnetic resonance imaging for accurate assessment of complex cardiovascular diseases; quantitative magnetic resonance imaging to monitor the progression of brain abnormalities across examinations; solutions for quantifying fat and iron in the liver; and quantitative solutions to assess cartilage and joint conditions.
Philips' comprehensive AI ecosystem, developed across various clinical fields, optimizes image reading processes, increases work efficiency, and supports doctors in making effective decisions for complex cases.
"We believe this cooperation will enhance the quality of diagnostics and the capabilities of Vietnam's medical team", said Chris Kim, Head of Diagnostic Imaging, Philips Asia-Pacific.
Kees van Baar, Dutch Ambassador to Vietnam, shared, "This event demonstrates successful economic cooperation between Vietnam and the Netherlands. Specifically, it will open up many opportunities for collaboration between Phenikaa Group and Dutch high-tech companies, making a practical contribution to the development of Vietnam's healthcare sector".
AI-powered 3T magnetic resonance imaging system inaugurated
During the event, Phenikaa University Hospital commissioned the 3 Tesla Philips Ingenia Elition X magnetic resonance imaging system. This new-generation MRI device uses strong magnetic fields, fully integrated with artificial intelligence, allowing for rapid scanning times and high-resolution image reconstruction.
The system enables early detection of complex neurological, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and oncological diseases. It also enhances the patient experience through reduced noise, shorter scanning times, and increased comfort during examinations.
This investment reflects PhenikaaMec's commitment to technological innovation, improving healthcare quality, and achieving international standards in diagnostic imaging.
