AP-Bio is a standardized Andrographis paniculata extract, containing bioactive compounds such as andrographolide. A phase III clinical study published in 2023 in the journal Complementary Therapies in Medicine, conducted on 300 adults with uncomplicated upper respiratory viral infections, noted that AP-Bio at doses of 200 mg and 400 mg daily improved cold symptoms compared to a placebo. The 400 mg dose specifically showed improvement in cough symptoms.

Furthermore, Asparagus cochinchinensis and Ophiopogon japonicus are two medicinal herbs used in traditional medicine for their properties of nourishing yin, generating body fluids, and moistening the lungs. A research review published in Frontiers in Pharmacology in 2022 indicated that Asparagus cochinchinensis has a history of use in traditional remedies to support respiratory issues such as cough, asthma, and tracheitis. Ophiopogon japonicus is also traditionally used to nourish yin, generate body fluids, and moisten the lungs. A review on PubMed noted that pharmacological studies on Ophiopogon japonicus show its anti-inflammatory potential and support for cough relief.
Additionally, the formula includes ivy leaf, Vietnamese balm, Stemona tuberosa, Elsholtzia ciliata, white mulberry bark, Clerodendrum serratum, dried tangerine peel, Stephania glabra, ginger, and artichoke. These medicinal herbs are combined in the formula with the aim of supporting respiratory health. The effects of each ingredient may vary depending on its composition, content, and extraction method.
