Ha, residing in Germany, faced three years of infertility despite two unsuccessful transfers of good quality embryos from previous in vitro fertilization (IVF) attempts. During a visit to Vietnam to see family, she and her husband sought examination at the Center for Reproductive Assistance at Tam Anh General Hospital TP HCM (IVF Tam Anh TP HCM).
Doctor Nguyen Thi Thach Thao identified Ha's underlying medical conditions: endometriosis and endometritis. These two conditions often hinder embryo implantation and development. Additionally, Ha had gallbladder polyps and chronic cholecystitis. While not directly causing infertility, chronic inflammation can trigger a systemic inflammatory response, adversely affecting embryo implantation.
Doctors at IVF Tam Anh TP HCM advised Ha to undergo in vitro fertilization to conceive but emphasized the need for complete treatment of her medical conditions before embryo transfer. This comprehensive approach involved addressing all health issues to optimize the chances of a successful pregnancy.

Ha underwent ovarian stimulation, resulting in 17 mature oocytes over three cycles. After fertilization with her husband's sperm, the embryos were cultured in a Time-lapse system integrated with artificial intelligence (AI), allowing continuous monitoring of their development. The couple obtained two day-5 embryos and five day-6 embryos, which were then cryopreserved.
Before embryo transfer, doctors from the Center for Endoscopy and Endoscopic Digestive Surgery at Tam Anh General Hospital TP HCM performed gallbladder removal surgery, providing complete treatment for Ha's polyps and chronic cholecystitis. Concurrently, anti-inflammatory medication was administered to create a favorable environment for embryo implantation.
Once her medical conditions were managed, Doctor Thao transferred one good quality day-5 embryo into Ha's uterus. Ha successfully became pregnant, and a baby girl weighing 3,5 kg was born in Germany last June.

Doctor Thao recommends that patients experiencing multiple unsuccessful embryo transfers undergo comprehensive and specialized reproductive health screening. This assessment helps detect and address abnormalities affecting pregnancy potential before further infertility treatment. At IVF Tam Anh TP HCM, doctors adopt a multidisciplinary approach. They collaborate with specialists from Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, and other fields to simultaneously diagnose and treat various medical conditions, optimizing embryo implantation potential and increasing the rate of successful pregnancies and healthy births.
