106-year-old man threads his own needle, climbs stairs thanks to 'reverse' biological clock

Sleeping from 4 p.m. and starting his day at 1 a.m., 106-year-old Wang Dinggao maintains sharp eyesight to thread needles for sewing and regularly climbs three flights of stairs without losing his breath.

Wang Dinggao, a 106-year-old man from Ruian town, Zhejiang province, China, has captivated social media with his unique daily routine. Daxiang News recently shared a series of images showcasing Wang's independent life within his four-generation family. Despite a slight decline in hearing due to age, he remains fully autonomous in his daily activities. Every day, Wang goes to bed between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., waking up at 1 a.m. He then enjoys television, eats breakfast at 3 a.m., and goes for a walk. His son, Wang Yangqing, has consistently woken up at 2:30 a.m. for many years to prepare a hot meal for his father. The entire family respects Wang's unique biological clock.

Wang's diet is not strict. He favors seafood, enjoys river crabs, and occasionally sips a glass of white wine with his son during meals. Explaining his resilience, he attributes it to an optimistic spirit, strong family values, and a lifetime of manual labor, which helps maintain his physical endurance.

In his youth, Wang completed 4 grades of school before teaching himself weaving, banquet cooking, and making dough figurines from rice flour. Thanks to his meticulous nature, he managed the village's financial fund for a long period. His exceptional culinary skills allowed him to single-handedly manage village banquets of dozens of dishes until he was 70 years old. The bamboo baskets he crafted by hand half a century ago remain durable and are still used daily by his family and neighbors.

Beyond his physical stamina, the villagers of Ruian admire Wang for his steadfast 80-year marriage to his wife, Hong Ailan. Married in 1945, the couple became a symbol of harmony in the region. His son recounts that his mother had a fiery temper, while his father was calm and yielding. Whenever his wife became angry, Wang never raised his voice to argue. Instead, he quietly poured her a cup of warm water, handed it to her, and smiled, telling her, "Drink this, then you can continue being angry," immediately defusing the tension.

After Hong passed away earlier this year at 100, Wang's health deteriorated, and he became withdrawn. Thanks to his son's devoted care, he gradually regained his health and independent rhythm of life. In the four-generation home, he keeps commemorative photo frames and the staircase handrail crafted by his late wife.

China's 7th national census data in 2020 recorded approximately 119,000 centenarians, leading the world in the number of people reaching the age of 100 or older.
