Nanjing police recently announced the arrest of a man known as "Hong Ty". The number of victims is believed to be close to 1,700, though the police have not yet reached an official conclusion.
According to his initial testimony, his motivation was not financial but due to "loneliness". Widowed and with his son living abroad, the retired "Hong Ty" had no one to talk to and devised this scheme. This explains why "Hong Ty" did not ask for money during dates. If someone offered him money, he would block contact.

However, during the investigation, the police discovered that he had taken photos of everyone he had dated, meticulously labeled. But "Hong Ty" wouldn't have been arrested for just that. The police discovered he had filmed sexual encounters with his partners and posted the videos online for profit.
How could he deceive so many people?
"Hong Ty" would wake up at 5 a.m. every day to apply makeup, put on a wig and silicone breasts, and apply layers of foundation. This process took about 2 hours.
On his social media account, he used a heavily airbrushed photo as his profile picture and wrote "divorced and living alone, looking for a sincere life partner" in his bio.
"Hong Ty" maintained his persona in everyday life as well. Because fans sent him so much fruit, he often gave it to the building's cleaners, who praised him as a "kind girl". "Hong Ty" could speak in a feminine voice for extended periods, even without a voice changer.
Some might wonder how "Hong Ty" wasn't discovered during sexual encounters. Chinese media explains that he was eventually discovered, but some partners were accepting while others were not.
According to some "regular clients", after learning that "Hong Ty" was male, they were not only not deceived but even more excited.
The case is still under investigation to determine the exact number of victims and other details. Legal experts say that if the perpetrator knowingly has AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases and still intentionally engages in unprotected sex with an unspecified number of people, causing a risk of widespread transmission, they can be charged with endangering public safety by dangerous means.
According to Articles 114 and 115 of the Chinese Criminal Code, if the crime is committed but does not cause serious consequences, the penalty is 3 to 10 years in prison; if it causes serious injury, death, or major damage, the penalty is over 10 years, life imprisonment, or the death penalty.
