On 15/4, Khan, 25, and Nguyen Van Nghia, 32, both residents of Nghe An, were criminally detained by Ha Tinh authorities. They are under investigation for illegally transporting narcotics.
Earlier, on the morning of 12/4, at Cau Treo International Border Gate in Son Kim 1 commune (formerly part of Huong Son district), Ha Tinh Border Guard, in coordination with inter-agency forces, ambushed and caught Khan. He was emerging from the forest edge carrying a backpack containing drugs.
At the scene, authorities seized 24,000 methamphetamine pills, divided into small, sealed blue nylon packages. The shipment, originating from Laos, is valued at billions of VND.
A few hours later, the special task force arrested Nghia, Khan's accomplice.
The two suspects stated they were hired by a stranger to transport the drugs from Son Kim 1 commune to Nghe An, expecting a payment of 30 million VND upon completion.
