Cafe worker steals gold and cash from employer

19-year-old Nguyen Cong Thuong is accused of memorizing his employer's safe combination while working as a barista and stealing over 5 taels of gold and 670 million VND.

Thuong was arrested on 21/7 by Nam Phuoc Commune Police for theft.

Yesterday morning, the owner of the Nga Thanh cafe on Trung Nu Vuong Street reported to Nam Phuoc Commune Police that over 5 taels of gold (worth approximately 600 million VND) had been stolen from their safe. Additionally, between late 2024 and 27/6, the family discovered approximately 672 million VND missing from the safe.

After investigating and gathering evidence, the police identified former Nga Thanh cafe barista Nguyen Cong Thuong as a suspect and arrested him.

Thuong confessed to stealing the gold and cash. He stated that while working at the cafe, he took advantage of his employer's lapse in security, memorized the safe's combination, and stole the valuables on multiple occasions.
