On 20/8/2024, the People's Court of Hue City sentenced Tran Bao Vu, 32, Phan Minh Trung, 35, Le Khac Di, 22, and Nguyen Duy Quang, 21, to death for drug trafficking.

Pham Xuan Nguyen Minh, 26, Huynh Thi Le Huyen, 34, Vo Dai Tay Duong, 29, and Le Anh Vu, 24, received life sentences. Three others were sentenced to 20 years in prison for the same crime.

Between 2023 and 2024, Tran Bao Vu repeatedly purchased drugs from Quang Tri province and brought them to Hue for distribution. He directed his subordinates to find hiding places, transport, and deliver the drugs. He also rented several locations to store large quantities.

Police seized over 10.7 kg of various drugs at a rented room on Pham Van Dong Street, My Thuong ward. Vu had put Trung, Di, Quang, and Minh in charge of distribution at this location.

Authorities caught Khue red-handed transporting 5.68 kg of drugs from Hue to Quang Tri at the intersection of Cau Da Vien and Le Duan streets.

Searches of a rented room on Ngu Binh Street and a house on Tran Phu Street yielded over 17 kg of drugs. Le Huyen had purchased these drugs from Vu and another individual for resale, with Duong handling the delivery.

Authorities identified Tran Bao Vu as the ringleader, responsible for 28.44 kg of drugs. His subordinates played an active role in trafficking 10.7 kg. Le Huyen and Duong were held accountable for 6.64 kg. The remaining defendants were involved in transporting nearly 6 kg of methamphetamine.
