The incident occurred at the Nguyen Trai – Nguyen Van Trang intersection in Ben Thanh ward, formerly District 1. According to footage recorded by residents, after the two cars collided, three men engaged in a verbal altercation that quickly escalated into a physical confrontation in the middle of the road.
One man repeatedly approached and attacked the person believed to be the driver of a 7-seater car. The victim fled while shouting, "You hit someone while drunk and then assaulted them, what's wrong with that?" and called for intervention from authorities. As he ran, the victim collided with a motorbike, falling to the ground, but his assailant continued the pursuit.
Ben Thanh Ward Police arrived promptly after receiving the report and brought those involved to the station for questioning. Police are currently reviewing security camera footage to determine the cause of the incident and will process it according to regulations.
In recent times, Ho Chi Minh City Police have taken strict action against numerous street brawls following traffic collisions.
Most recently, in mid-January, at the Ut Tich - Cong Hoa intersection in Tan Son Nhat ward, two motorcyclists involved in a traffic dispute used their helmets to fight each other in the street. Investigators prosecuted both individuals for disturbing public order.
