This initiative forms part of a concentrated crime suppression campaign aimed at ensuring security and order for Lunar New Year 2026. Investigators focused on monitoring, detecting, and addressing professional gambling rings that caused public concern in residential communities.
Since the campaign's inception, criminal detectives have uncovered nearly 10 cockfighting gambling dens in areas including Ba Diem commune (formerly Hoc Mon district), Tan Tao ward (formerly Binh Tan district), Phu Loi ward (formerly Binh Duong), and Phuoc Thang (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau).
At the scene, police apprehended over 40 individuals involved in organizing, brokering, and participating in betting. Authorities seized numerous exhibits, tools used for cockfighting, and a significant amount of cash.

The investigative agency is classifying the roles of each individual, focusing on clarifying the actions of the ringleaders who organized and enticed players. These individuals will face strict legal consequences, with no exceptions.
Ho Chi Minh City Police note that the period before Lunar New Year typically sees a surge in gambling activities. Alongside enforcement efforts, police advise residents not to participate in or facilitate illegal gambling. They also encourage citizens to actively report crimes to help maintain security and order.
In the coming days, the Criminal Investigation Department will maintain patrols and control over the area to prevent the recurrence of cockfighting and gambling dens during the Tet holiday.
