Earlier, police discovered this group entered Vietnam and rented an apartment in a condominium on Hoang Quoc Viet street, Phu Thuan ward, to conduct online fraud. According to police, they called people in China using pre-written scripts, enticing them to transfer money for illicit appropriation. During an apartment inspection, authorities found many phones and computers used for this activity.
This incident was uncovered as TP HCM Police intensified efforts to scrutinize accommodation establishments and foreign nationals. In a previous crackdown, police repeatedly discovered groups of Chinese nationals renting entire houses and hotels, gathering personnel, installing Internet, and equipping hundreds of phones and computers to prepare for operating online fraud rings.
