On the evening of 29/3, Nguyen Ngoc Trinh (42, residing in Cao Xanh ward) opened the safe in his bedroom and discovered that 270 million dong and a two-chi gold ring were missing. He had last checked his valuables on the afternoon of 27/3.

When summoned by police, Sam, Trinh's domestic helper, admitted to opening the safe on the evening of 28/3, taking advantage of the family's absence. She knew Trinh had forgotten to reset the combination, allowing her to open it with just the key.

After taking the money and gold, Sam gave everything to Nguyen Thi Xuan (42, residing in Cao Xanh ward) to settle a debt exceeding 300 million dong.
