On 3/7, An Phu ward police, Ho Chi Minh City, investigated the driver of a 7-seater vehicle who drove against traffic on Tran Quang Dieu street, An Phu ward (formerly Binh Duong), for suspected disorderly conduct.
Yesterday afternoon, at a red light on Tran Quang Dieu street, while other vehicles were queuing, the 7-seater vehicle driven by a man of about 60 years of age encroached onto the opposite lane, obstructing traffic. Seeing this violation on a section of road with a solid dividing line, a young man on a motorbike filmed the incident.
The driver cursed, challenged, and threatened to assault the young man. After a brief exchange, the driver stopped his car in the middle of the road, blocking other vehicles, and rushed to attack the young man. He was restrained by several people. The young man left, but the driver continued to chase and assault him.
Following the incident, the young man reported it to the police and provided the video of the traffic violation.
According to Decree 68, the double solid line marking the center of the road divides the two directions of traffic, and vehicles are not permitted to cross or drive over it. Violations incur a fine of 400,000 to 600,000 VND (if no accident is caused) and 20,000,000 to 22,000,000 VND (if an accident is caused).
In addition, the offending driver's license will be penalized up to 10 points.
