Drug dealer arrested after sending 'new teeth' selfie to friend

A smiling Coran Davies, pictured showing off his bright white cosmetic teeth, unknowingly sent the image directly to police, leading to his identification through facial recognition.

Coran Davies, 23, sent a selfie showing off his newly done cosmetic teeth from a dental clinic in Turkey to his friend Dale Howell, 25. The message also contained details about supplying cocaine and cannabis. Unbeknownst to Davies, Howell's phone had already been seized and was being analyzed by police as part of an investigation.

Following the discovery of the message, South Wales Police identified Davies using facial recognition technology. They analyzed his facial features from the selfie and compared them against law enforcement reference databases.

In September 2025, police searched a property linked to Davies and discovered cocaine, cannabis, and drug paraphernalia.

Months later, on 7/3, plainclothes officers spotted Davies driving with Howell through the town of Tonypandy, Rhondda Cynon Taf. They stopped the vehicle and arrested both individuals.

During the search, authorities found cocaine, cannabis, and thousands of British pounds in cash on their persons.

On 9/3, both men pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including supplying cannabis, possession with intent to supply cocaine, and possessing criminal property.

At their sentencing hearing on 9/4 at Merthyr Crown Court, Davies received a four-year prison sentence, while Howell was sentenced to three years.
