On the evening of 5/4, An, 33 years old, was drinking at a friend's house in Tan Huong commune with Long, 26 years old, when approximately six youths armed with handguns and machetes stormed in. One person from this group fired a gun, and a bullet struck Long in the abdomen.

An and his friends overturned tables and fought back, but the group still stabbed An multiple times in the abdomen. The victims fled, pursued by the assailants who continued to fire shots and shout "kill them". After committing the crime, the group left the scene in vehicles.

The two injured victims were later taken for emergency treatment.
