Girl abused by mother's partner

Vo Thanh Hau, 37, allegedly abused his partner's 13-year-old daughter, leading to her pregnancy.

Hau was detained on 17/4 by An Giang Provincial Police on charges of child rape.

According to the investigation, Hau cohabited with Hong, 39, in a rental room in Vinh Te ward. Last summer, Hong brought her daughter from Can Tho city to stay at their rental room. Taking advantage of Hong's absence, Hau used force to rape the girl. The victim did not report the abuse to anyone.

In February, Hong noticed her daughter showing unusual signs and took her to the hospital for an examination, where the girl was discovered to be pregnant. Upon learning her daughter had been abused by Hau, Hong reported the incident to the police.

Forensic test results later confirmed the baby was biologically related to Hau.
