A 19-year-old man from Dien Thanh town, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province, is in police custody following the death of his grandmother on 27/6. His identity has not been released.

The incident occurred when the grandson visited his 77-year-old grandmother in Hanh Quang commune and asked her for money. After his request was refused, he entered her bedroom intending to steal her jewelry.

Authorities allege that when the grandmother discovered him, the grandson panicked and pushed her in an attempt to escape. The grandmother fell against a wall and died as a result of the fall.

The grandson, a first-year university student in Nghe An province, was apprehended a few hours after fleeing the scene.
