On 13/2, the Criminal Judgment Enforcement Agency of Ho Chi Minh City (TP HCM) Police announced sentence reductions and early releases for 500 individuals serving sentences at Chi Hoa, Bo La, Detention Centers No. 1 and No. 2.
The decision was made based on the results of sentence reviews for the Lunar New Year issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court yesterday afternoon. Among them, 81 individuals had their remaining sentences fully reduced, allowing them to return home to celebrate Tet with their families.

This marks the first round of sentence reductions and early releases this year. This annual activity demonstrates the humanitarian and lenient policy of the Party and State towards offenders who have shown good conduct during their imprisonment. It also provides an opportunity for them to reunite with their families, prepare for community reintegration, and encourages continued rehabilitation and progress.
Individuals considered for sentence reduction had a good record of study and labor rehabilitation, had served sufficient time, and had completed additional penalties such as fines, court fees, damage compensation, and other civil obligations. Their classification results were rated "good" or higher.
The Ho Chi Minh City Police's Temporary Detention and Custody Guidance Team stated that during this Tet holiday, according to State policy, inmates serving sentences in detention facilities will receive a food allowance five times higher than usual for five Tet days, including a full spread of traditional dishes.
