Nguyen Huu Duan, 29, has been charged and detained for rape. These procedural decisions were approved by the People's Procuracy Region 1 - Ha Tinh and announced on 1/2.

According to the investigation, in early January, Duan created a Facebook account impersonating a celebrity popular with young people. He then used this fake profile to approach and befriend Thao, a 16-year-old girl.

After several days of messaging, on the evening of 19/1, Duan invited Thao out and took her to an area far from residential zones. Authorities accuse Duan of using force and threats to compel Thao into a sexual act, while also recording the incident on his phone.

Duan then demanded that the victim not disclose the incident to anyone, threatening to post the video on social media if she did. In late January, upon learning that Thao had reported his actions to the police, Duan surrendered.
