Pham Thuy Nhi, 42, will be tried by the People's Court of TP HCM for attempted murder in July.

The indictment states that in 8/2024, Nhi met Tai, who is 10 years her junior, on the Bigo social network. They regularly exchanged messages and photos, developing a relationship. After some time, Nhi discovered Tai was seeing multiple other women simultaneously, which led to conflicts and their breakup.

In 6/2025, they reconnected and arranged to meet at a hotel on Quang Trung Street in Thong Tay Hoi ward, TP HCM. During this meeting, Nhi again found Tai messaging other women.

On the afternoon of 14/8/2025, Nhi purchased a utility knife, placed it in her handbag, and went to Tai's rented room. Early the next morning, Nhi invited Tai to a hotel. In the room, Nhi demanded to see messages on Tai's phone, but he refused. At 9:40 AM that same day, Nhi observed her boyfriend deleting some messages on Zalo.

According to the indictment, at that moment, she retrieved the knife hidden under a pillow, approached him from behind, and slashed Tai's throat. Attacked, Tai pushed the knife away with his hand, then pressed a towel to the wound to stop the bleeding. He asked Nhi to call an ambulance, but she did not.

Tai then called his younger brother, who notified the police. Officers arrived at the hotel, transported Tai for emergency medical treatment, and took Nhi to the police station for questioning.

Forensic examination results indicated the victim sustained 6% injuries and did not request compensation.

During the investigation, Nhi stated that Tai's repeated emotional deceptions led her to plan to kill him and then commit suicide.
