According to the investigation, three months prior, Binh used the alias Nguyen Van Uc to pawn two chains, each weighing 1.5 luong, at the Kim Long gold shop in Dong Phu commune, for 100,000,000 VND. Later the same day, an accomplice pawned a similar gold chain for 65,000,000 VND. Both transactions had a one-month term.
Five days later, another individual attempted to pawn a chain at the same store. The owner grew suspicious and requested a citizen identification card (CCCD) to finalize the contract. The individual then left the shop. Upon inspecting the previously pawned chains, the owner discovered they were fake gold and reported the incident to the police.

During the investigation, police apprehended Binh. Authorities determined that he had previously used similar tactics to defraud another gold shop in TP HCM. Forensic examination by the Institute of Criminal Science, Ministry of Public Security in TP HCM, confirmed that the three yellow-colored chains were 99% silver (Ag), with a total value of only nearly 2,000,000 VND.
Police are currently pursuing the remaining suspects involved in the scheme.
