On the afternoon of 2/7, Trinh Cong Thanh, 31, was observed acting erratically, blocking a taxi waiting at a traffic light on Ly Tu Trong street, Ward 1, Bao Loc. He appeared disoriented, constantly pointing and tapping on the car's hood and windshield wipers.
Immediately after the taxi left, Thanh turned his attention to Luan Hoang Cuong, 33, who was also waiting at the traffic light. Thanh jumped onto the back seat of Cuong's motorbike, demanding that the owner dismount. When Cuong attempted to pull out his key, Thanh snatched his helmet and repeatedly hit him on the head. The two men struggled in the middle of the street as the confrontation escalated.
Several residents rushed to assist Cuong. However, Thanh brandished a weapon, threatened the bystanders, then stole the motorbike and sped away from the scene.
Police from B'lao Ward, Ward 1 Bao Loc, and Ward 2 Bao Loc quickly launched a pursuit, successfully apprehending Thanh on Le Van Tam street, less than 1 km from where the robbery occurred.
