Man defames ex-wife using her photos to 'seek romantic interaction' online

A man in Ca Mau created a Facebook account with his ex-wife's photo and personal details, posting messages in groups asking to 'seek romantic interaction' after their divorce, aiming to defame her honor.

On 12/4, the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of Ca Mau Provincial Police announced that this individual had been administratively sanctioned.

Investigations revealed that after the termination of their marriage, the man established an unofficial social media account. He used his ex-wife's photo as the profile picture and posted her personal information in numerous groups, with content stating 'seeking romantic interaction'. This action significantly impacted the victim's reputation and honor.

To avoid detection, he used a device he rarely accessed to log in. When summoned for questioning, he provided a different device in an attempt to mislead the investigation.

Ca Mau Provincial Police stated that recently, there have been many cases of individuals misusing social media to post false information and use others' images to damage their reputation, mostly stemming from relationship conflicts.

Authorities advise citizens to comply with regulations when using cyberspace and not to upload or disseminate content that infringes upon the honor and dignity of others.
