Pham Khac Phuong, 51, from Tran Hung Dao ward, Hai Phong, was arrested five hours after he allegedly restrained a young girl and attempted to sexually assault her.
According to Quang Ninh Provincial Police, the incident came to light on 15/7 after a social media post titled "Warning - Impersonator of doctor from Vietnam Sweden Uong Bi Hospital approaching children" appeared online.
The author of the post said a man pretending to be a doctor from Vietnam Sweden Uong Bi Hospital in Yen Tu ward was approaching a young girl, offering to "check her pulse and prescribe medicine" with malicious intent.
Quang Ninh Provincial Police investigated and confirmed the incident.

The investigation revealed that on the morning of 14/7, Phuong saw the girl alone at home in Yen Tu ward. He approached her, lured her in, and then restrained her with the intention of sexual assault. The victim resisted and screamed, preventing him from committing the crime and forcing him to flee.
Phuong was later apprehended while traveling from Quang Ninh back to Hai Phong. He confessed to his actions.
