Man kills ex-wife after asking for private talk

Tran Van Thang, 45, is accused of fatally stabbing his ex-wife, Le Thi Minh, after asking to speak with her privately at her parents' home.

Thang, a resident of Ha Huy Tap ward, was taken into temporary criminal custody by Ha Tinh Provincial Police on 17/4. He is being investigated for murder under Article 123 of the Penal Code.

According to the investigation, Thang and Le Thi Minh, 40, were married decades ago before divorcing. They have two children together. Minh had worked abroad for many years and recently returned home.

Around 9:30 PM on 16/4, Thang arrived at his ex-wife's parents' house in Thang Hoa residential group, Ha Huy Tap ward (formerly part of TP Ha Tinh). He asked Minh's parents to leave so he could speak with her alone.

Authorities allege that during their conversation, Thang suddenly attacked Minh with a knife, killing her at the scene. After the attack, Thang fled to a nearby field and made a phone call. Authorities then surrounded and arrested him.

Authorities are currently examining the scene and have not yet released the suspect's statement.
