According to the investigation, starting in 1/2024, Anh used social media accounts on Facebook and Zalo to join groups such as the "North-South Drivers Association" and the "Binh Dinh - Saigon Truck Association" to find drivers interested in inter-provincial goods transport.
He sought out individuals and businesses needing truck transport. After gathering information, Anh photographed the goods, sent images to drivers, negotiated freight prices, and then demanded a deposit to secure the shipment.
Trusting him, many drivers transferred money to accounts Anh provided. However, after receiving the funds, he severed contact and appropriated the deposit.
Investigators determined that using this scheme, Anh defrauded numerous inter-provincial goods transport drivers, appropriating a total of hundreds of millions of dong. The Da Nang City Police Criminal Investigation Department initiated the case, prosecuted the defendant, and issued a wanted warrant in 1/2026.
While on the run, Anh traveled through various localities, including Bac Ninh, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City (TP HCM), to evade detection by authorities.
Following a period of verification and tracking his movements, on 13/2, when Anh returned to Da Nang to visit relatives, detectives coordinated with local police to arrest him.
