On 20/4, the Tay Ninh Provincial Traffic Police Department announced penalties against a 53-year-old man residing in Long Hoa ward. The man was cited for several violations: not wearing a helmet, operating without a rearview mirror, lacking a driver's license, and not possessing a vehicle registration certificate. His scooter was also temporarily seized.
The incident occurred two evenings ago on Ly Thuong Kiet street in Long Hoa ward. A shipper collided with the man, who was riding a scooter without a helmet. Although both individuals and vehicles sustained only minor scratches, the man's actions quickly escalated.
He began repeatedly cursing, then kicked the shipper's scooter to the ground before attempting to ram the shipper with his own vehicle. When the shipper managed to evade him, the man continued to strike the fallen scooter. During this, he challenged the shipper, shouting, "call the traffic police," before leaving the scene.
The entire altercation was captured on video by residents and subsequently posted on social media, generating significant public outrage and numerous demands for legal action. In response, the Tay Ninh Provincial Traffic Police Department directed the Trang Bang Traffic Police Station to collaborate with the Long Hoa Ward Police for immediate verification.
The investigation revealed the man was using a fake license plate. He was summoned for questioning this morning at the police station, where he admitted wrongdoing. He attributed his actions to a "hot temper" that led to the argument with the young shipper. The man stated, "I will compensate the shipper if he requests it and I commit not to re-offend".
