Khanh, 30, lived with his 55-year-old mother, Mrs. Hoa, in Thuan Hoa village. His father passed away earlier, and his brother works in Ho Chi Minh City.
At approximately 7 a.m. on 31/12/2024, Khanh woke up and went to the kitchen to find something for breakfast, but there was nothing there. Angered that his mother hadn't prepared any food, he grabbed a knife and went to where she was sleeping.
At 9 p.m. that evening, Khanh wrapped his mother's body in a blanket and dragged it to the Phu Thuan ferry terminal on the Thu Bon River to dispose of it. His actions were discovered by people at Phu Thuan market, who then reported him to the police.
