An Giang Provincial Police arrested Nhi on 24/12, temporarily detaining him for investigation into a homicide charge.

According to the investigation, around 6:30 PM on 16/12, Nhi was drinking with a friend at his home in Tan Hue hamlet, Oc Eo commune, when Doan Tinh Em arrived to demand a 300,000 dong debt. Unable to pay, Nhi pleaded for time, promising "to pay when he earns money from work," and invited Tinh Em to join them for a drink.

During the drinking session, Tinh Em reportedly cursed, demanded money, and threatened Nhi. Enraged, Nhi grabbed a homemade knife and slashed Tinh Em multiple times on the face and shoulder before fleeing. Relatives transported the victim to An Giang General Hospital for emergency treatment, later transferring him to TP HCM for specialized care.

Following the incident, Nhi surrendered to Oc Eo Commune Police.
