On the afternoon of 18/12, the Economic Police Department of Quang Tri Provincial Police, in coordination with Lao Bao Commune Police and Lao Bao International Border Gate Border Post, discovered a suspicious sleeper bus stopped on National Highway 9. The bus was found in Tay Chin hamlet, Lao Bao commune, during a patrol.
Upon inspection, police observed the driver and two assistants unloading 112 packages. These packages contained 676 cobras, with a total weight of 924,2 kg. The large shipment lacked any legal documents to prove its origin.
Authorities identified the owner of the shipment as a 34-year-old woman residing in Lao Bao commune. She admitted to transporting the snakes from Laos to Vietnam via unofficial channels, intending them for consumption.
