Police in An Giang province are holding Phan Van Con, 45, on suspicion of property damage and endangering the safety of others. The incident occurred on 3/8.

Con had been living with his 52-year-old partner in Thanh Dong commune, An Giang province. On the night of 2/8, a disagreement over finances escalated. Intoxicated, Con threw gasoline through a window of his partner's house and ignited it.
Four people inside the home managed to escape. Con subsequently turned himself in to the authorities.
Initial estimates place the property damage at around 100 million VND.

Con confessed to setting the fire, claiming he was angered by his partner's alleged financial deception.
