According to police, Jalyn took her infant to the hospital after observing worrying behavioral changes. During the examination, medical staff suspected the baby had been exposed to illicit substances and conducted tests.
The test results confirmed the infant tested positive for methamphetamine. The initial investigation revealed that Jalyn had fed her child formula prepared with contaminated water. Police stated this water had previously been used by Jalyn to rinse needles for injecting methamphetamine.
Police reported the infant is in stable condition and is recovering. Authorities have not disclosed details regarding custody. Online court records indicate that Jalyn was ordered not to contact the infant after her release from jail.
Jalyn has been arrested and charged with child neglect without injury. She is currently held at Alachua County jail, with bail set at USD 20,000. Her next court date has not been determined.
