Motorcycle theft suspects resist police with knife, pepper spray

Upon seeing police, Le Quang Nha and an accomplice, involved in motorcycle theft, quickly brandished a knife and pepper spray in an attempt to resist arrest, but were ultimately apprehended.

On 14/4, Le Quang Nha, 25, from Dong Nai, and Nguyen Duc Sang, 33, residing in Quang Phu commune, were arrested and temporarily detained by Dak Lak Provincial Police on charges of property theft.

The two were apprehended by Tan An ward police in Quang Phu commune, Dak Lak, upon their return. During their apprehension, Nha resisted with a knife and pepper spray but was quickly subdued and arrested.

According to the investigation, on 11/3, Nha and Sang traveled from Dong Nai to Dak Lak by motorcycle, equipped with lock-picking tools, a knife, and pepper spray, seeking opportunities for theft. In Tan An Industrial Park, Tan An ward, they spotted a motorcycle parked by the road. Sang acted as a lookout while Nha broke the lock, took the vehicle, and fled. The pair then removed the GPS tracker, taped over the license plate, changed clothes, and stored the stolen motorcycle at the Cu M'gar Medical Center parking lot. The following day, they proceeded to Lam Dong and stole another motorcycle.

Both suspects are drug addicts with 4 prior convictions. Sang had been released from prison just over one month prior, drifting in Dong Nai where he met Nha. At the police station, the two suspects admitted to stealing the motorcycles with the intention of taking them back to Dong Nai and selling them in Cambodia.

The case remains under expanded investigation.
