Huynh Van Nhi, 44, allegedly murdered his 47-year-old wife on the evening of 28/8 before attempting to hide in a coconut tree. He later fell from the tree, sustaining severe spinal injuries, and was hospitalized.

According to initial reports, Nhi's wife and daughter returned home around 20h on 28/8 after having a meal at a neighbor's house. Late that night, Nhi's daughter heard a loud noise from her mother's bedroom. Rushing over, she witnessed Nhi committing the crime. Her shouts for help alerted neighbors, who quickly came to assist, but the woman had already died.

During this time, Nhi climbed a tall coconut tree behind their house to evade capture. When police arrived to secure the scene for investigation, the suspect fell to the ground unconscious.

On the afternoon of 29/8, An Thanh Communal Police transferred the case file and suspect Nhi to Can Tho City Police to investigate the act of murder. Due to Nhi's severe spinal injury, the Cu Lao Dung Medical Center transferred him to a higher-level facility for continued treatment.
