Nguyen Ngoc Tien arrested

Nguyen Ngoc Tien, 50, has been accused of fraud in connection with land plot sales at the Royal Streamy Villas project in Phu Quoc.

On 20/3, the Economic Police Department (PC03) of Ho Chi Minh City Police announced the arrest and temporary detention of Tien. She faces charges of fraudulent appropriation of property in connection with her role as director and legal representative of Dao Vang Real Estate Services Co., Ltd.

This development follows an investigation spanning over two years by PC03 into alleged fraud. The investigation focused on investment cooperation contracts signed to secure land plot sales at the Royal Streamy Villas project in Cua Duong commune, Phu Quoc. Kien Giang Construction Investment Consulting Group JSC is the investor for this project.

Tien's company specialized in consulting and brokering resort projects in Phu Quoc. She is also known as the wife of the late actor, Meritorious Artist Quy Binh, and has been involved in charity work in Ho Chi Minh City.

Initial investigation results indicate that on 1/3/2018, Kien Giang Construction Investment Consulting Group JSC, headquartered in Rach Gia City, Kien Giang province, and led by General Director Tran Tho Thang, signed an investment cooperation contract with Dao Vang Real Estate Services Co., Ltd.

Following this agreement, Dao Vang Co. proceeded to find customers, sign investment cooperation contracts, and collect 95% of the land plot value from numerous individuals. This occurred despite the project investor not having fulfilled its financial obligations to the State and the project itself not being eligible for sale.

The cooperation agreement stipulated that Dao Vang Co. was only authorized to identify potential customers. The actual contract signing was to take place directly between the customer and the investor, with all payments to be transferred to the investor's account.

The investigation into the case is ongoing and being expanded.
