Passenger repeatedly stabs taxi driver in face with chopsticks over 'driving skills' dispute

Twenty-seven-year-old taxi driver Truong Ngoc Thang was repeatedly stabbed in the face with chopsticks by a male passenger sitting in the back seat, following a dispute during the drive.

According to police reports, Truong Ngoc Thang stated that on the afternoon of 1/1, he was transporting a couple by taxi from Ea Phe commune to Krong Pak commune. As the vehicle entered Kmrong village, the male passenger in the back seat leaned forward, grabbed him by the neck, and repeatedly stabbed him in the face with chopsticks.

Video shows the taxi driver being attacked by the passenger from behind.

Caught off guard, the driver released the steering wheel, covered his face with both hands, and pleaded for mercy. The woman accompanying the passenger screamed, unable to intervene.

Moments later, the driver, unable to stop the vehicle or unfasten his seatbelt, struggled to escape. The male passenger then opened the door, moved to the driver's seat, and brought the car to a halt.

The initial investigation determined the cause was a dispute between the passenger and the driver regarding their "driving style and experience".

Police are investigating the incident.
