Phan Cong Khanh's scheme to defraud McLaren and Brabus 800 owners

Phan Cong Khanh and his accomplices borrowed a Mercedes G800 Brabus worth 24 billion VND from a customer for a showroom opening, then sold it.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Procuracy has indicted Phan Cong Khanh (31, also known as Khanh Supper) for fraud and property appropriation.

Mohamac Da Pha (29, from An Giang) has been indicted as Khanh's accomplice and faces additional charges of fraud and property appropriation, and property appropriation through abuse of trust.

Huynh Xuan Van, also involved in the case, is currently a fugitive and will be dealt with later.

In 2019, Phan Cong Khanh and Van founded K-Super Trading and Service Co., Ltd., specializing in luxury cars, each contributing 50% of the capital. Khanh was the legal representative, Van was the deputy director, and Mohamac Da Pha was a collaborator. Khanh also owned the K. Super showroom in District 1.

The indictment states that due to business losses, Khanh and Van planned to appropriate others' property to pay off debts. Khanh learned that Ms. Huong (residing in former District 7) wanted to sell her McLaren (worth 7.1 billion VND) and offered to sell it through his showroom.

On 23/5/2023, Khanh and Van asked Pha to pawn the McLaren for 3 billion VND to retrieve a previously pawned Mercedes G63 and return it to a customer. They promised to redeem the McLaren within a month but failed to do so.

After a long period without any updates, Ms. Huong visited the showroom and discovered Khanh's debts and that her car had been pawned. She then reported the incident to the police.

Earlier, in early 2022, Khanh sold a Mercedes Brabus G800 worth 24 billion VND to a customer in Phu Quoc. In June 2023, he contacted this customer to borrow the McLaren and Brabus G800 for his showroom's grand opening. He assured the owner that he would not sell or use the vehicles during the borrowing period.

Needing money to repay debts after the borrowing period, Van and Khanh informed an acquaintance named Phuong that they had a Brabus G800 for sale and showed him the paperwork. On 13/6/2023, Van, as the company's deputy director, signed a sales contract with Phuong and received 4 billion VND. Two weeks later, Phuong transferred the remaining 24.5 billion VND to Van, who then used the money for personal purposes and fled.

Almost two months later, upon learning about Khanh's police summons, the car owner discovered that his Brabus G800 had been sold by Khanh and Van.

Similarly, in early 2023, Pha convinced Mr. Su to buy a BMW for 1.8 billion VND. Pha then borrowed the car from him. Knowing Van needed 1 billion VND to repay a debt, Pha pawned Mr. Su's BMW and gave the money to Van.

On 8/7/2023, Pha surrendered to the police. Two days later, the Ho Chi Minh City Police arrested Khanh, while Van remains at large.

During the investigation, Khanh and Pha confessed to their crimes. The Ho Chi Minh City People's Court will try the case soon.
