Singer with '1.5 billion spotify streams' suspected of dismembering teenager, hiding body in car trunk

Singer D4vd, 21, is suspected of murdering a 14-year-old girl, dismembering her, and hiding her body in a Tesla registered under his name, with the remains discovered weeks later.

On 16/4, the Los Angeles Police Department announced that singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is being held without bail. Investigators will present the case to the District Attorney's Office for review of charges on 20/4.

D4vd is under investigation for the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The teenager's body was found in the trunk of a Tesla on 8/9/2025 after impound lot staff detected a foul odor.

According to court records, the 2023 Tesla Model Y was registered under D4vd's name at a Texas address belonging to his family members. The vehicle was towed from an upscale Hollywood Hills residential area after being abandoned for an extended period.

Celeste's family reported her missing in 4/2024 from Lake Elsinore, over 100 km from Los Angeles.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Office listed Celeste as missing from Lake Elsinore at least three times in 2024. Local residents stated the teenager had run away from home previously, but her whereabouts prior to her death remain undetermined.

Police indicated Celeste may have died "several weeks" before her body was discovered in the car trunk. The medical examiner confirmed Celeste had a "Shhh" tattoo on her right index finger, similar to D4vd's tattoo, but investigators have not yet commented on a connection between the victim and the singer.

Soon after the body's discovery, D4vd canceled his tour and remained silent amid public speculation regarding his relationship with the victim, including photos of them together before Celeste's disappearance.

A police source disclosed to media in 11/2025 that the perpetrator "very likely had help with the dismemberment and disposal".

D4vd was named a person of interest in 2/2026. The singer has not spoken publicly since Celeste's body was found.

During the investigation, police executed a search warrant at a home near where the Tesla was towed. Authorities stated D4vd "did not cooperate"; his parents and brother filed an objection in a Texas court against subpoenas requesting their testimony.

D4vd, pronounced "David", was born in 2005 in Queens, New York. Originally a streamer, D4vd transitioned to singing and began composing music, rising to fame with his 2022 song "Romantic Homicide", which entered the Billboard Top 100 chart within days.

D4vd released his debut album in 5/2023 to critical acclaim. His song "Here With Me" has approximately 1.5 billion streams on Spotify.
