The Nghe An Provincial Police Department summoned the group of 18- and 19-year-olds on 27/7 for questioning regarding the intentional assault.

Investigations revealed that on the evening of 21/7, following an online dispute with another local group, the six individuals armed themselves and arranged a meeting on Highway 7C, in Van Kieu commune, to "discuss the matter".

The group used sticks to stop and assault three unrelated motorcyclists on Highway 7C, injuring them and damaging their vehicles.

Van Kieu commune police arrested the six youths several hours later.

During questioning, the suspects claimed they attacked the three victims because they "mistook them for rivals".
