Smuggling over 18 tons of blueberries into Vietnam for consumption

Duong The Manh arrested for allegedly smuggling 18,660 kg of fresh blueberries through two border gates, Kim Thanh and Tan Thanh, for sale in Vietnam.

Duong The Manh, 43, General Director of Greenland Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., along with Ta Vinh Quy and Duong Minh Cong, were recently indicted and detained by the Hanoi City Police Economic Crime Department. They are under investigation for smuggling.

Initial investigations revealed that in early March, Manh smuggled 5,574 kg of fresh blueberries into Vietnam. This shipment entered through the Kim Thanh International Border Gate in Lao Cai province and was valued at over 1.4 billion VND.

Prior to this, from early 2026, Manh had also smuggled 13,086 kg of fresh blueberries through the Tan Thanh International Border Gate in Lang Son province. He imported these goods at prices ranging from 300,000 to 480,000 VND per kg and then sold them to major retail chains and supermarkets for 500,000-700,000 VND per kg. The total value of this consignment reached 9.6 billion VND.
