Son kills father, injures mother

Tran Thanh Tam, 32, has been accused of beating his father to death and injuring his mother after demanding she clean up his father's blood.

On 14/10, An Giang provincial police arrested Tam on murder charges.

Initial investigations revealed Tam lived with his parents in Chau Doc ward. He frequently drank alcohol, often verbally abusing his parents when intoxicated.

The tragic events unfolded on the evening of 4/10. After drinking alone at home, Tam went to his father's room to return keys, which escalated into an argument. He repeatedly punched and kicked his father before leaving to continue drinking elsewhere.

Approximately two hours later, Tam returned home to find his father lying in a pool of blood. Instead of seeking emergency medical assistance, he called his mother to clean the scene. Fearing her son would further harm her grandchild, the mother attempted to leave the house with the child, but Tam discovered them, chased them, and dragged them both back.

Tam then forced his mother to clean the blood and subsequently beat her, causing her to fall and sustain a head injury. As he carried his father to bed, the mother seized the opportunity to escape. She sought help from a neighbor, who drove her to the ward police station to report the incident, and she was subsequently hospitalized. Her condition is now stable.

Tam's father later died. An autopsy determined the cause of death was traumatic brain injury.
