On 17/4, the Criminal Police Department of Hai Phong City Police arrested Doan Chung Hieu and five accomplices for robbery.
Earlier, Hieu sold the motorbike without proper documentation to Tran, 17. Believing the buyer would not report it, Hieu planned to steal the motorbike back for his own use.
On 12/4, at a game cafe, Hieu assembled the group and assigned roles. Vu Phuong Phu, 17, from Hai An ward, was tasked with inviting the victim to "cruise the streets" and reporting his location to the group, leveraging their prior acquaintance.
Hieu prepared two glass bottles for throwing, and Phung Van Hai, 17, brought a sword. Hieu then recruited Le Van Bao Nam to join the scheme.
In the early hours of 13/4, following the plan, Phu drove Tran to the Bui Vien roundabout and honked to signal Hieu's group. The group pursued them through streets like Le Hong Phong, Vo Nguyen Giap, and Nguyen Van Linh. As Hieu's group attempted to overtake Tran on Ho Sen street to attack him with a sword, and Phu pretended to abandon the motorbike and flee, the HP22 Task Force of Le Chan District Police intervened. Police apprehended Nam at the scene, confiscating a sword approximately one meter long.
After escaping, Hieu instructed Phu to convince the victim to quickly sell the motorbike to a stranger for 18 million VND to dispose of evidence. On 14/4, criminal police arrested the entire group.
