Tinh confessed that he needed money to "start a business in Hanoi" and planned to rob a ride-hailing driver of his motorbike, money, and phone. Last night, he hailed the 47-year-old driver's motorbike in a quiet alley off Huynh Thi Hai street, Trung My Tay ward (formerly District 12), armed with a knife.
As soon as he got on the motorbike, Tinh threatened the driver with the knife and demanded his belongings. When the driver resisted, Tinh stabbed him in the neck. The victim fell to the ground and died at the scene. Tinh then fled the scene, discarding the knife in a bush.
Police examined the scene and found the motorbike and a bag. After reviewing CCTV footage from the area, investigators tracked down and apprehended Tinh.
The investigation is ongoing to verify the suspect's confession.
