Taxi driver returns 1.2 billion dong mistakenly transferred by customer

Having received over one billion dong mistakenly transferred to his account by a stranger, Ngo Van Trung, a taxi driver in Dai Loc commune, proactively coordinated with the police to return the money.

On 17/4, Dai Loc Commune Police announced that the unit had assisted in the procedures to return 1.2 billion dong to a citizen who had mistakenly transferred it via a bank account.

The incident began around 9h55 on 14/4, when Nguyen Van Hoi, 42, residing in Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province, was attempting to transfer money to an acquaintance also named Ngo Van Trung. Due to an error during the transaction, Hoi mistakenly sent 1.2 billion dong to the account of Ngo Van Trung, a taxi driver residing in Dai Loc commune, Da Nang City.

Upon realizing the mistake, Hoi promptly contacted Dai Loc Commune Police for help. The commune police force quickly verified the account holder's information and contacted the taxi driver, Trung.

On 15/4, Trung went to the bank with police officers to complete the necessary procedures for returning the 1.2 billion dong to Hoi.

A representative of Dai Loc Commune Police commended Trung's actions. "Trung's action is a bright example of ethics. It also helps avoid unnecessary legal complications for the recipient of mistakenly transferred money if they do not proactively return it," the representative shared.
